Received the set and have read through the well written and nicely printed instructional materials which are very helpful since I've never used such a machine.
One thing surprised me was nowhere I could find the ubiquitous "Made in China" -- not on the packaging, on the hand piece, or in the printed materials. So, I called the 800 number to ask. A live staff picked my call right away and confirmed: Yes, it's made by our company here in the States. She took my suggestion that they put something like "Proudly made in USA" on the package.
With 2 AA rechargeable batteries installed and the smallest white emery bit inserted, the machine weighs only 118g (approx. 4.2 oz). Thanks to the light weight and cordlessness, it's very easy to handle. Using fully charged rechargeable batteries, speed is pretty good considering it's a drill running on two AA's.
It might not be powerful enough if one wants to reduce thick toenails once a month and need to get it done quickly. But for bi-weekly trimming, it seems just good enough, at least for me.
The trade-off is power/speed vs safety. To me as an aging boomer using a drill the first time in life, I prefer this not-too-powerful drill so that I will less likely hurt myself, particularly when climbing the learning curve.
I wish the design offers a switch to reverse rotating direction. I wonder if anyone has tried to insert the batteries in the opposite + and - position and successfully made the motor to rotate in the opposite direction without damaging the motor.
I will report the drill's durability if it stops working within 12 months or so.
P.S. The Amazon description states "Shipping Weight: 3.2 ounces". However, on an LB-501 digital scale the whole manufacturer's package (which has no battery) weighs 6.2 oz.

I am pleased with my purchase of this product. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income so going to have a professional pedicure every 3 months just isn't in the budget. But I knew I had to do something about my toenails. They were out of control. This set has allowed me to not only trim them back but reduce their thickness. I would recommend this product to any senior citizen with the same problem.
I am delighted with my nail care kit. I am in my 80s and my toe nails have thickened with age. It had been increasingly difficult to trim my toe nails until I received my kit. The little "machine" works perfectly, and is very easy to use.
A care provider at the nursing home where my mom lives had suggested that I buy this for doing her toenails. I love it for her, as well as my husband and myself. I received my order before it was actually scheduled to be delivered, and upon using it I have decided that it was money well spent. I do not like to spend 25-30 on pedicures and this little kit is perfect for maintaining sexy healthy looking feet. The only piece I feel is obsolete is the flat diamond; its supposed to file the nail, but it doesn't. The little piece to remove dead skin from the cuticles is excellent. The piece that works on thick nails was my biggest curiosity and it actually works, my pinky toe never grows in right and has to be filed flat; I was able to do so with this. Good Purchase.

Wow! I love this manicure set!! I've never owned more than nail clippers, a file and an emery board, and this is a deluxe set! It has devices for filing, shaping, trimming cuticles, buffing, etc., and it's very portable with a carrying case contains a small Velcro pocket for the attachments. Pop in 2 batteries and I became my own manicurist and pedicurist!!
So far, this seems to be a great product. It seems substantial to hold, and the instructions are clear, albeit brief. My only concern is how long these tool heads will last. I filed my nails and toe nails, and it was taking a bit longer to touch up a fingernail after I finished my toes!
It's perfect! It's exactly what I was looking for in a nail care product. The battery cap is easy to open (uses 2-AA batteries, not included). Mine also came with a handy travel case. The enclosed filing/shaping, etc. tips are simple to change - pull one off, place and lock the next.
